Machinefabriek – Nevel
Surprise (well, not for everyone)! Here’s Nevel, a meditative long-form piece. Ideal music for heat waves. It’s mastered by Jos Smolders, and now up on my Bandcamp, as well as on streaming services.
Dedicated to Bob Rusche.
This piece was initially shared with friends and supporters via postcards with download codes. One of those cards was addressed to Bob Rusche. It was already in the pile to be mailed that day in June, when I saw the heartbreaking news of his passing on Instagram. I could hardly believe it.
Bob was incredibly kind and endlessly supportive of me and many others in the experimental music scene. You'd see him at concerts, and he'd regularly play tracks on his radio show, X-Rated. Until 2008, he was an impeccable advocate for all things weird and dark at Boudisque, the Amsterdam record store where he worked.
Thanks, Bob. Your legacy will be an inspiration for generations to come.
There’s also a few 3” CDRs made, for those who prefer their music on tangible formats. These are housed in an A6 pvc sleeve, a paper folder that holds the disc, and two postcards – one has a download code on it and can be send to a friend if you’d like. Grab it here.
Field Studies, Volume 4
Brad Rose* (who runs Foxy Digitalis*) asked me to contribute a track to the fourth volume of the Field Studies on his web-label The Jewel Garden; a series of 4-way split releases, each one collecting single long-form pieces from various artists. I’ve created the track Capsule for this, which is constructed using multiple guitar recordings. A 15-minute track, which is in great company: the other contributors are Andrew Weathers, Every Shade of Green, and KSANA.
*Back in the days Brad Rose ran the label Digitalis Recordings, and released two albums I made with Mariska Baars (soccer Committee): Drawn and Zeeg (with Wouter van Veldhoven). Which is a nice bridge to:

As a friend and regular collaborator, I obviously have to plug this upcoming release by Mariska. This time she’s made new versions of a bunch of older tracks, and they’re hauntingly beautiful. The 10” will be out on Accidental Meetings (hence the title) early September. Pre-order is open now, with one track streaming.
Ton de Leeuw – The Electronic Works
Jos Smolders teamed up with Moving Furniture for the Dutch Oscillation Series, dedicated to issue unreleased early electronic music from composers from the Netherlands. Think Simeon ten Holt, Luctor Ponse, and Tera De Marez Oyens. All expertly restored and mastered at Jos’ EARLabs studio.
The first release is now sceduled. An extensive collection (a four LP set or double CD) by Ton de Leeuw, with a booklet with liner notes. It’s now available to pre-order.
Oh, my involvement is visual; I have the pleasure of doing the design for the Dutch Oscillation Series…
